Stopped for a Root Beer, why else do you go to Dog-N-Suds? The food was as expected from a national chain, the service here was fast and it was fun to eat at the picnic roofed picnic area so we didn't have to sit in the car. I'd go again when I'm in the area and want another Root Beer!

This place is pretty cool. It's like a Sonic drive-in but better. For the longest time, they didn't accept credit cards so I didn't eat there that often. The hot dogs are pretty good and so are the sandwiches. However, the must get item is the root beer float. This thing was great. The root beer alone was pretty dang good, but adding their ice cream to it made it delicious. The prices are fairly reasonable and the service has always been good. Furthermore, I have never had an issue with any of the items I've ordered. I would highly recommend coming here on a nice summer evening and enjoying a quick dinner with a root beer float to top it off.

It's a drive-in, which is rare enough in this day. But somehow it fits perfectly with the whole retro vibe I'm finding in Indiana. Or is it that this state refuses to leave the mid-20th century? I JEST! (maybe?) Anyway, the root beer is house-made, and really is the whole raison d'etre for this place. And you don't have to eat in your car (something which never appealed to me), as they have a nice covered picnic-table area to enjoy your burger/chicken/dog basket al fresco. Frosted mugs for all, including the 15 cent Baby Mug! Whattadeal! (as long as you bring cash.) (Yipes - can I get any more parenthetical?)

They have some of the best root beer that I have ever had in my life. Gotta get it in a frosted mug. As for the rest of the food it's about average for a hot dog and burger joint. I usually get a footlong cheese coney...it goes great with that awesome root beer.

Great on a sunny day. Good even on a rainy day. Carports are covered and if they're full, there's a covered seating area outside. Nice menu variety. In a land dominated by skinny crispy french fries, I found a place where I can get crinkle fries! +1! Locally owned. Their "Boilermaker" burger is delish. Root beer served in frosted heavy glass mugs. Nice! Convenient location in WLaf. A co-worker of mine swears by their breaded pork loin sandwich.

I travel and get back to town late, like 8:30 and always try stop in, but they are ALWAYS closing early. Thursday night the hours were posted open until 9:00 PM, at 8:45 they were CLOSED. For every 4 times I go there in a month they are closed early 3 of them. I've also noticed how slow and spotty their service is. I'll pull up and order a small 1 person order usually hot dogs. Some car will come 5 minutes later and order this big meal, and it never fails, they other car gets their food first. Finally, it used to be a pleasure to tip the delivery people. Not anymore, its like they expect all the change. I had a 41 dollar order about a week ago, I said give me a $5 back out of a $50. That would be a $4 tip. The deliver person said thank you and walked away keeping all $9. I've had enough, I've decided to stop at Dairy Queen and get my hot dogs and corn dogs, they taste better than the boiled mystery meat. I went there for fast convenient service. They are no longer fast, and closing early certainly not convenient. Forget this place.

How I miss the smell of chili dogs hitting my face as I roll down the window. It tickles my nostalgic senses when I'm back in my old stomping grounds to make a sentimental stop at my favorite drive-in. I just press the little red button, and get ready to be served. My D&S Checklist: - Start off by ordering some D&S famous root beer in a frosty glass. The stuff that makes you go "Ah!" after taking a big swig. - Drink it. - Order another one to-go. - Next, order a footlong coney dog and a tenderloin sandwich. Nothing says "Indiana girl" like a good breaded tenderloin. - Eat it. - Now, sit back, relax and order a root beer float. - Devour it while enjoying to some classic rock radio. I'm so sad that there isn't a Dog N' Suds in Indy. There are days I'm half tempted to make the 45 minute drive to get a $3 hotdog. Yes, THAT good.

Disappointing! I am a frequent customer of the Lafayette Dog n Suds, but I was running errands and needed a quick lunch. The grilled tenderloin was much like a piece of leather, and around 1/8" thick. The pickles were the saving grace on the sandwich. The fries were very hot, but limp and mushy. My guess is that they were made much earlier and dropped the the fryer to heat up. Not good at all. I won't be back!

There are few things from my childhood I remember as vividly as the Dog n Suds. To me, nothing about the place has changed. The coney dogs are my favorite, something that I've carried with me from childhood. The root beer is something I still can't get enough of; it has just the right amount of vanilla taste in it (although the diet does leave a funny aftertaste for some reason). Even if I no longer eat beef and pork, I still can't stay away from this local staple. The fries and onion rings are great, and who can resist an amazing root beer float? The service is prompt and you can't beat it as far as cost is concerned.

The only thing better than the original in Lafayette is the fact that they opened up a second in West Lafayette! How great is that!? Same great food as the first, with additional location to pull in the west side crowd.
